Welcome to rat race reboot. I'm your host, Laura Noel. And as a certified coach and former 27 year military leader, each week, I provide bite sized mindset pivots that will help you reset your mind reawaken your spirit and regain your control.

01:03

Hi, everybody, and welcome back. I'm really excited to get into this material today. This is a three part series. And we're going to be talking about the four steps to developing persistence. And if you're familiar with the book, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, he talks about really arming yourself so that you persevere when you are setting goals and you're moving in the direction toward that goal. This is the perfect time of year usually where people set resolutions or a vision for their life, a new year, a new focus a new you what however you want to look at it. But after a month or so, though, that new vision and the momentum starts to wear off a little bit and starts to wane. And there's a reason for that. And it's usually because we're not setting the right goal, or we're just simply creating new habits in our actions. But we're not doing the inner work to make those habits stick. So I'm going to help you over the next three episodes, arm yourself so that you have a much stronger chance of being persistent with your goals. And to help you do that I want you to go to rat race reboot.com and download the Quantum Leap handbook because that's what we're going to be touching on over these next through few weeks. And you're going to have some homework, I want to help you get focused, get aligned with your vision and your purpose, be excited about it help you really find something that you can just be excited about and persevere through it. So the four steps to developing persistence, I'm going to go through them right now. One is having a definite purpose backed by a burning desire for its fulfillment. The second step is having a definite plan expressed in continuous action. Step three is a mind closed tightly against all negative and discouraging influences, including negative suggestions from friends, relatives, and acquaintances. And then lastly, a friendly alliance with one or more persons who will encourage you to follow through in both plan and purpose. Now, that's pretty sound advice, right? But what does that mean? We're going to talk about having a definite purpose black backed by a burning desire for its fulfillment. That's that's a mouthful. So purpose. Sometimes we set goals I'd mentioned we set the wrong kind of goal. And we it fizzles out shortly after we kind of head in that direction. And the reason is, there are three types of goals that I was taught by my mentor Bob Proctor, and there's a, b and c type of goals. A goals are goals that you've achieved before. So if you had purchased a new BMW off the lot, four years ago, and then you say, four years later, my goal is to purchase a new BMW off the lot. That wouldn't be a goal. That might be something that you want, and you should have it but it's not a goal. Goals are designed to stretch and grow you. And so when you're reaching for a goal, to really capitalize on that burning desire and that momentum, you want to have a goal, that's a vision, you want to have something that you're excited about not something that you've done before. It's the progressive realisation of a worthy ideal. So it's not about achieving the goal. It's about who you get to become as you're moving in the direction of that goal. Okay, so we have a type of goals. That's the first kind something that You've already achieved or had before. The next is a B type of goal. And that's where people normally rest. And that's where I spent a large majority of my life and B type of goals, I was always in the grind, it was one thing after the other, I'd achieved one goal and then go for the next one. And the next one, I was a goal seeking organism. And I it was as if I was climbing mountains. And whenever I would reach the top of a mountain, I thought, well, now I'll be fulfilled now I'll be happy, never happened. And I ended up just feeling depleted, and exhausted. So be goals or goals that you think you can do. So you think the gather all the resources, if I have all these resources, and I have the plan, and I've crafted the plan, then I decide I'm going to reach that goal so that it's a goal that you think you can already do, or it's a minor step toward what you've done in the past, or beyond what you've done in the past. But the type of goal setting that I'm talking about that helps fuel that burning desire is a C type of goal. And that's a goal that's based on your wants and desires. It's not based on what you've done in the past, what you've done in the past is really irrelevant. It has no bearing on what you're capable of doing. A C type of goal is based on fantasy your wants and desires. It requires you to draw on something inside of you that maybe you haven't drawn a Han, and pulled out of you in a long time. And that's your imagination. We're taught at a very young age, that our imagination is a distraction. You know, when we start going to school, we're taught we Hey, we stop daydreaming and pay attention to what I'm talking. You were taught to live life and, you know, project and plan through what we're experiencing through our five senses. Instead of diving into our imagination. And using that tool. It's a God given gift. And it's something that you should draw on that's, you have no idea what's locked up inside of you. And that's what a seagull is attempting to do and draw out from you your deepest wants, and desires. So I want to get you tapped in to something that you truly want and desire. And that's going to require you to fantasize. So how do you figure out what it is that you want? How do you land on a goal? Well, first, you have to tap into your imagination. Give yourself permission to dream. fantasize about something that you might want to be do or have, and start a little shopping list. Have a journal out and every day, get connected with what do I want? How could I serve and write it all down? fantasize about every aspect of your life? How are you serving? How much income are you bringing in? What type of relationships do you have? What do you desire? How do you feel? How does it feel being you? What kind of things do you have? What kind of experiences are you experiencing? How are you creating your legacy and serving the world? So write those things down.

08:20

You know, there's no inspiration. In having a multitude of beagles, I remember when I was setting those big goals, and I was at the top of my career, and from the outside looking in, it looked really impressive. But I was miserable inside because there was something missing, I wasn't fulfilled. But the see type of goal, again, that's coming from your deepest desires. It's a vision with a timeline, you're guessing at the timeline. So get into the habit of allowing yourself to dream. You know, a person who is working toward a vision and a purpose is alive. It feels completely different. When you have a seagull lined up for yourself, you feel alive, a person who's you know, climbing those mountains, one after the other person who's just working, doesn't have any fun. There's no fulfillment there. I'm not saying that you're not going to put in the time and the hours you need the requisite skills to do the things that you want to do. But you can acquire them and you don't necessarily have to acquire them yourself. You can, you know, create a mastermind of people around you and we're going to get into that next week's episode. But somebody with a vision is alive, right? So in this first part, I want you to dive into your quantum leap handbook and just give yourself permission to dream. Don't get wrapped up into the how you're going to do it. We're not there yet. Because this is a brainstorming exercise. We're brainstorming things that we want to be do or have the How will come as you start to peel back the layers of The Onion, you're raising your conscious level of awareness. And as you do that, the the way forward the how the plan, which we will get into next week will start to emerge and start to last week we talked about being in receive mode and opening yourself up to receive. When you are open to receiving, you release that old baggage, those old paradigms and old limiting beliefs that are no longer serving you. When you start getting tapped in and excited about a vision and you have a burning desire for its fulfillment, and your health. healthfully obsessed with that vision, you're thinking about it, you're living in that space in your mind, you start to entertain that fantasy, that fantasy then starts to become a theory. And you start to get tuned into what are some possible avenues that you could take to get there. But we're not there yet. We're in the fantasy stage. So the fun is in finding out how you're going to get there. So you take that fantasy, and you turn it into a theory and then you start to play around with that fantasy in that theory. And then that theory becomes an actual goal. That's where we are in this process. So I want you to slow down so that you can speed up and create that quantum leap and your results. So don't let people or circumstances Steal Your Dreams. You know, you focus on what you want to tap into what's already inside of you. Some cues that might give you an inkling of some things that you might want to be do or have is start to pay attention. When you notice other people doing something or having something that you want. You know, if you find yourself asking yourself, you know, how do they do that, I wonder what it would be like to go there. How long you know, when you start getting really curious about other people and the things that they're doing and the the experiences they're having, that's a clue to you, that you might be on to something. So give yourself permission to dream about that. And then once you land on that goal, again, you're not worrying about the how you're you're thinking about the what, then I want you to write it down on what we call a gold card. So you could take an index card or like a little business card, and write that goal down in one or two sentences, something that's easy for you to remember and connect with, you know, and start with the phrase, I am so happy and grateful. Now that I have achieved I've have I'm doing X, Y and Z, you want to write it in the present tense as if you already are living it and you already have it. Again, don't get wrapped up in the how I want you to land on something that is exciting to you in this goal statement is just one or two sentences that represent the vision that you have the vision that you created from that shopping list of things. So maybe you have 100 things personal and professional wants on this list. Well pick one or two things from that list something personal, something professional, and then imagine your life in possession of those things. What would it feel like being you how would you carry yourself? What would you dress? Like? How would you fuel your body? What kind of people would you surround yourself with? What kind of things are you doing? How are you serving the world? Imagine that you're living in that space now. And when you write your goal statement, those one or two sentences are just meant to represent that vision. And so when you read that statement, it transports you in your hearts, back to that experience of your goal. And your imagination. Remember, energy is everything. And that's all there is to it match the frequency of the reality you want. And you cannot help but get that reality. This is not philosophy. This is physics. Albert Einstein said that everything is energy, including your thoughts. We attract things that are in harmony with our thinking and the thoughts that we get emotionally involved with. So I want you at this point for the next week. Just allow yourself to be childlike and daydream. Write down what you want. And then get it whittled down into a goal statement. Read that goal statement every day journal about it every day. What would your life be like write about it every single day, say it in the mirror the power of auto suggestion, fall in love with it and get in harmony with it in how you feel. Remember, feeling is the conscious awareness of the vibration or energy you're in. So that goal once you make the committed decision that you're going to go for that goal. You're in harmony with it. So your job is to stay there and we're going to do that next week. As we craft a plan to get you from point A to Z, okay, so trust in the process, I'm really excited. And if you haven't done so already, go to rat race reboot.com and download the Quantum Leap handbook. That's where you're going to find a bunch of exercises that I'm going to walk you through. And I'm going to take you from start to finish from really landing on that goal and that purpose, to having that burning desire for its achievement, to crafting the plan and a bunch of other things. So I'm really excited, downloaded, work through it. That's what we're going to be be doing this next month. And I'm really excited. So as we end every podcast, I want to get you centered and get you clear in who you get to become who do you want to become in this 2022? Who do you want to be? You know, we have done so much work together. And if you haven't tuned back into some of the earlier podcasts, especially in December, where I'm talking about releasing some of the thoughts and the limiting beliefs that are holding you back. I'm talking about forgiveness and gratitude celebrating the wins. And then we talked a little bit about receiving last week.

16:20

This is how you start to open yourself up to what's possible. And I want you to create an amazing 2022 and beyond. And it starts right here doing the the internal work, slowing down, taking time for you to think. So with that said, Let's end our episode, the way we always do. And just getting connected with that vision of who you want to become by the end of 2022. So take a deep inhale through your nose.

16:57

And exhale. Take another deep inhale exhaling slowly, fully and completely. And I want you to think about if there were no obstacles, and we could fast forward to the end of 2022. Which New Year's Eve, you're all

17:31

dressed up. You're celebrating the wonderful year you've had. What are some of the milestones you imagine you would love to celebrate? Who are you with? celebrating New Year's Eve? 2022 to 23? Did you write that book? Did you go on a speaking tour? Did you overcome a fear that you had? How about in your career? Did you get that big promotion you wanted? Or did you start that business you've always dreamed of? Who do you want to be? And what are you celebrating New Year's Eve at the end of this year start with the end in mind. Write it down Welcome back, everybody. Start with the end in mind. Live from that place, not as if you are traveling toward a destination but as if you already live there. So imagine what it would be like at the end of this year. If you were celebrating all of your wonderful accomplishments. What would you be celebrating? Start there, use that as your starting point. And then over the next week, build on it and land on a big goal that is exciting and scary at the same time. And you have no idea how you're going to get there. That's okay. I don't want you to know how you're going to get there if you know that it's not the right thing. Goal, you're going to run out of steam. So remember A, B and C goals we want to focus on, see goals. It's a vision, you're guessing at the timeline. And it's something that just fills your soul. It doesn't matter what you've done in the past, your mistakes, your past certifications, you can build upon all of that it doesn't matter. Don't get stuck in the house right now. I want you to be in the dream phase for this next week. If you haven't done so, and if you haven't done so already, go to rat race reboot.com, download the Quantum Leap handbook. And that's the handbook we're going to be working through for the next two weeks after this. And if you got value out of this, please go to YouTube, our rat race reboot.com, our YouTube channel, subscribe, or you can follow us on any channel where you listen to your podcast, share this information with your friends, leave a review because that's how the algorithms work. And that's how we can get this information out and help more people. And I do read those reviews. I am really grateful for you excited for this year. And I look forward to seeing you next week where we go to part two of these different areas of persistence that Napoleon Hill talks about. Until then, remember, everything's created twice, first in your imagination, and then in physical form. We'll see you next week.
